 	What Robert is confusing with the BIOS is the Bootloader. In Linux, this is GRUB, and Windows has its ownbootloader.These are backed up by any good backup program.

 	MBR and GPT (Legacy and UEFI/EFI Boot) have different partition structures, and place their bootloaders into different locations. So the backup program needs to be told which type of boot is used -- legacy or EFI.
