-====Letter to neighbors, 3rd draft 7/8/2022 updated 7/19/2022==== +July 21, 2022\\
- +
-July 19, 2022\\ +
 Hello neighbors, Hello neighbors,

-**Overview:**\\  +We have collected data from eight oil companies and have summarized the data in the "oil company info" attachment as well as on our web page[[https://oil.toku.us]].
-We're Steve and Evie Isenberg, you've seen us walking around the neighborhood and we've spoken to you about our oil supplier research.\\   +
-Our research is done.\\   +
-We have contacted eight oil suppliers who service our neighborhood to determine what they are charging for delivering heating oil, and what they are charging for boiler service.  We're writing you because you expressed an interest in our projectso you can access the results.+

-Several of the suppliers offer lower prices if a group of 5-10 of us end signing up with them; we've included the "group" pricing and the "non-group" pricing so you can decide which is best for you.\\  +The "cost comparisontable shows an estimated cost for each company based on their pricing on Monday July 18.
-You can see the results of our research at https://oil.toku.us (This is a site created and maintained by Steve.)+

-In short, the first part lists the eight oil suppliers we contacted (in no special order) with their oil and service options and pricing.  The second part shows what multiple deliveries of oil from each supplier would cost, group and non-group pricingat the current (7/18/2022) prices.  (Note of course that oil prices will likely go up or down over time.)+The "oil company info" table has detailed information about each oil company's offerings.  Some of the companies offer group rates, some include one or two years cleaning, some a full service package for 1, 2, or more years.

-**Examples** based on price information 7/18/2022:\\  +In our opinion, the top two contenders are Lyons Fuel and Fawcett Energy; our conclusion is backed by the "cost comparison" table.
-  - Lyons fuel 200 gallons delivered 5 times with full service policy is $4,319. +
-  - Taylor and Murphy (also known as Arlmont Fuel), 200 gallons delivered 5 times with full service policy is $4,990 (non-group) and $4,790 (group of 10+) +
-  - Lyons fuel 200 gallons delivered 5 times with just a cleaning is $4,185. +
-The table at https://oil.toku.us shows similar data for the other oil suppliers.+

-**Each household** will have direct business relationship with the chosen oil supplier after you sign up with the thembecause every household's usage and payment method is different. Steve and Evie are only giving you the information, and we will have no involvement in any oil supplier choice you may make+Lyons is delivering oil at his cost and adding delivery fee, with optional add-on of a cleaning ($125) or a full service policy ($259includes cleaning and emergency service).

-**Know someone else who might be helped by this information?**\\  +Fawcett is a bit more expensive, and we think their "option 1" is the best of their 3 optionsit offers one year free maintenance and has a discounted rate for fillings.  (The other two options allow a price cap, for a price; and a fixed oil price, but you must prepay.)
-We haven't been able to speak to all of our neighbors.  If you know someone else in the neighborhood who might be interested in this informationplease feel free to forward this email and/or the link https://oil.toku.us to them.  Ask them to contact us (both@toku.usif they have any questions or would like to be added to our list for future mailings (NO spam NO advertising).+

-If you have any questions or suggestionsplease don't hesitate to email us, give us a call, or stop us as we walk by.+Let's say you need 5 refills a year at 200 gallons each.  Based on the 7/18 price you would pay $4,060 for Lyons and $4,399 for Fawcett.  The difference is $339 which more than covers for an annual cleaning by Lyons and even Lyons$259 full service policy should you need either.  The other oil company delivery prices are higher than these two.  Right now we are thinking that Lyons Fuel might be the best choice, but we need your input, and we would need to have several of us choose company to get the bestgroup rates. (Of course rates might go up or down.)

+Could you please take a look at these tables and give us your opinion?  Could you let us know by next Monday 7/25?  If you agree with our conclusion, please reply to this message with "agree".
 +
+Notes: The price they offered on July 18 are simply being used as a method of comparison; prices could change at any time.\\ Lyons is the only company that has disclosed that their "at Lyons' cost" is based on NYMEX price.
 +
 +Thank you,\\

-**PS**\\  +Attachments, from [[https://oil.toku.us]]:
-We have decided to go with Lyons.  Our reasons are: the pricing is really goodwe don't need a service policy as we still have some months left in our service policy with our previous oil supplier, and we so rarely need service for our 18-year-old boiler that we will only get a cleaning every year or two.+  CostComparison.pdf
